Back from Melbourne

Knitting found in strange places

Below is a places I think in Ballan, we had coffee and the best Vanilla slice, great place but it was a little smokey due to the indoor wood burner, loved the place

Patchwork shop " Gail's Emporium", look at the lovely Birdhouse, the Garden, the driveway to the shop and the Stone building that is home to the shop.

Deidre and I went to Melbourne early Wednesday morning, arrived on time , got our car and plugged in the Tom tom and drove to the first shop called Somerset, we both belong to their fabric club and really wanted to see the shop.
We also visited Amity, Patchwork on Central and one more, oh dear forgot the name.

A few things had to come home with me and I will show you in the next few days.
We got to our hotel in the afternoon and had dinner downstairs, yummy Goat cheese tart and some Wine was enjoyed too.

Thursday we walked over to the Quilt show, only a short walk. We had a great time looking at lovely quilts and some more shopping.
I have taken pictures of the most beautiful quilts ( to me ) and will show you some here soon.
The quilts where hang in a zigzag fashion and it didn't make it easy for viewing them.

We decided not to go back to the show and went to Castlemaine instead, wow I loved the shop Threadbear and had to make some more purchases ( pictures to come)
Drove home via Ballarat and Ballan and visited Gaile's Emporium a patchwork shop, loved the building and the setting, just beautiful.

Saturday we got up late and went to the Queen Victoria market and flew home in the afternoon.
Thanks Deidre I had a great time.
We went to many shops and I didn't write all the names down, but many are well worth a visit.

bye for now

This and That

Hi all

First I like to say a big thank you to all that have made a donation for the "Bridge to Brisbane" fundraiser walk to sponsor my son-inlaw, there is still time to donate ( every $ 5 donated will give you a chance to win) and you can find all the info two posts ago.
I will draw the winner of my quilt when I am back from Melbourne next week ( I think I might have to draw three winners, as you ladies have been so generous). Thank you again.

I have also been quilting, the Start quilt is a pattern by Fig Tree Design. Also thought I show you the charity quilt with the wavy lines after it has been washed, I wash all my quilts after they are finished.

They just feel, look different and I know they are clean....big grin.
Today I finished making 6 fitted sheets for the new little one, we had all these unused flat sheets and now they are perfect fitted sheets.

Go Baby Go

I received a wonderful email this morning telling that I am the lucky recipient of a Go Baby Fabric cutter by AccuQuilt and three dies, woohoo can't wait and I will just have to be patient for it to arrive at my house. Yeeepppeeee. I am sure going to give it a good home.

Check out Accuquilt's website, it is amazing the things you can cut out, even some applique shapes.

I have started to think of quilt to make with the dies I have chosen ( well I already have something in mind) and will share it with you as soon as I have the Go Baby and can get started.
Stay tuned........

Happy days
Thank you Accuquilt

little of this and a little of that

Thought I show you my Tupperware container I use to take sewing, it holds everything I need for applique or hand quilting, it closes really well and is very sturdy.
I have been baking, still getting used to my new Ovens, might also have to practise the look of my icing on my cupcake, but it did taste beautiful.
The apple cake was made using wholemeal flour and honey..... it was very yummy.

The quilt is a customer quilt, don't you just love the backing? I have done a few and will add the pictures soon.

cheers

Doll quilt swap # 2

Hi everyone

Hope you all have received your swap by now and are happy. If someone hasn't been able to meet the deadline please make sure you have contacted your swap-partner.

Also if you haven't already please email me a picture with your quilt, but make sure it isn't too large as it takes up my downloads.
I would like to make another slide show and add it to my blog .

Thank you all for playing, I will think about a third swap or maybe something different. Check my blog and I will let you know.
I have received some goodies in the post from some of you and not taken pictures yet, thank you..... but there is no need.

I am now going to do the Food shopping and afterwards some quilting.

Take care
Christine

ps. nearly finished Ed's quilt top.

Melbourne....

Here we come, well we missed out on Sydney and have decided why not Melbourne....

Flights are booked, hotel will be booked tonight and we are going to be there from Wednesday 27th till Saturday 30th evening.
The show starts on Thursday 27th July, so Wednesday we might check out a couple of shops.
Sydney was only going to be one night, but Melbourne is a little further so why not stay three nights.

I am very happy and looking forward to it, hope you do to Deidre...

The little ones are coming over and I have baked some cupcakes for them.

cheers
Christine

ps. looks like the next grand baby is also going to be a pink one.
