Class today and few other things

Had a wonderful morning with four lovely Ladies in my class, sewing away in aircon, if you like to see what we have been up too go and check out Bree's lovely blog post about today.

She has taken pictures too, thank you Bree for the lovely words. I am very lucky as I meet lots of lovely people and do enjoy my time out teaching classes as quilting at home can get a little lonely, DH is not always in the mood for my chatter after a day at work and you know how it is as women have to use up so many words per day,big grin.

I have also sent my first Doll quilt ( yes I am making two), my hand quilting is not perfect as my hand is still not working the way it should.

Happy stitching

Pin cushions

Well I love pin cushions and thought I show you a few and some more later.

The cupcake came home with me from the Us last year, the little pot was made years ago and the oh so cute little cup I bought last week on Etsy from Bree's new little shop.
If you like to order a Tea cup pincushion just click on Bree's name and it should take you to her little shop.
Also our new fridge ( it won't be free standing once all the cupboards are installed) and a new class sample.

cheers

Good morning all

Thank you for all your wonderful comments and well wishes. Thought I better tell you how I got my injury..... well helping DH lifting very heavy things in the last month while doing our kitchen, that is how my Dr. thinks I have torn a muscle.

No no not my sewing, very big grin..and with my splint on I can still use the longarm and hand stitch just can't bend my wrist.
For the cutter and mats, very interesting on how many are using the OLfa, as I said I use a straight handle cutter because I always switch hands while cutting.

Thanks again for all the great info.
cheers

Olfa cutter and mat

Good morning to you all as I am sitting here having my coffee and my left wrist in a splint, you wonder why ?

Well I have been having a lot of pain below my elbow for about three weeks and it wasn't getting any better so I went to see my Doctor and I have torn the muscle just below the elbow and every time I move my wrist it tears again, so what to do other then putting it to rest.

I can still do lots of things so it isn't to bad..... I am left handed and it is my left wrist, but I can cut with my right hand and this brought me to the question:

What rotary cutter do you use, like and why?

My favourite is the new straight handle Olfa cutter, you can have only half a blade exposed and I can swap hands ( as I do ) also their mats are great. I have tried others and find the blades don't last as long.
I don't like to use the curved handle cutters as I swap hands instead of turning my fabric.
Mind you I have a very old pink Fiskars mat and I would have to be the close second.

Let me know what you use

Go to the Doll quilt swap page and click on a name from a swapper and it will/should take you to their blog.
Happy stitching.

Cyclone Yasi

Well she/he is the biggest Australia has ever seen it is now to be a category 5, patients from Hospitals have been taken by plane all night down to Brisbane.

Everyone has been told what to do, but I don't think we really know what is coming, they are also concerned it crossing on a high tide and that will make it so much worse.
The weather reports are saying it is as big as Katrina,Townsville quiet a big City is build on a flood plain and the next 24 hours are going to be very scary.

I can't believe they are flying all these reporters and film crews in, makes you wonder if they don't already have enough people to look after.

While we are not going to be affected directly, all this is doing my head in and I am feeling quiet stressed.

I think I will have to turn the TV off for a while and do a little sewing.

quilting hugs
