DUQ Magazine
Yes I am bragging, but when I went to the US in November and walked in to Zook's in Intercourse I found this magazine ( it is not a current issue, but here it is) on the shelf and yes it is my quilt on the cover and includes my profile.
Sorry to be so shameless.........

Doll quilt swap are you interested??????
I would like to organise a Doll quilt swap for next year and would like to know if there is enough interest out there.
Have seen them done before, but though it would be lovely to host one myself.
I am thinking of a maximum size, if you have a look at an earlier post you will see some pictures from the International Quilt Study Centre with images from Doll's quilt and what I am thinking of.
So if you are interested at all leave a comment, details are going to be worked out if there is enough interest.
Merry Christmas to all my readers and if you check my previous post you find I am going to have a giveaway on Sunday, the git is a surprise.

Some last minute finishes, the beautiful Floral quilt is a present my customer is giving to her Mum, it is a beautiful quilt and if you like to see a better picture just visit Kate's blog.
The quilt with the yellow border was designed and pieced by a young quilter, Beck has just finished high school and works part time at Patches a local quilt shop, she did a great job.
The other quilt is going to America, my customer is going to give it to her best man and ask me to quilt it at the last minute and she too was very happy to be able to take it.
Merry Christmas to you all

ps. leave a comment and I will have a giveaway next Sunday......... could be a little three layered something....

Some pictures to share...

Well the new kitchen is not going in before Christmas, but the dining room is nearly newly painted so we can have nearly 20 people for Christmas Eve dinner.
We never thought we would get the new kitchen finished so it doesn't bother me at all. DH started to take some of the old tiles of and as you can see took off more than he wanted, I thought it was very funny he didn't....... I told him to get sense of humor, hihi I don't think I will be getting anything for Christmas now.
As you see in my header we have gone nearly all white in the new dining and kitchen, will show you when we get the kitchen finished in January. Mind you DH might go on strike so I better be nice.

I have received this wonderful parcel from Kate it is part of the 6 gift swap by Maree.
I was completely spoiled by Kate, all the parcel looked so lovely wrapped with labels and of course I had to open them all.
Thank you so much Kate, I have added the decorations to my tree, eaten some of the chocolate and the table runner will look great after Christmas on my dining room table.
The candle will be part of my table decoration for our dinner Christmas eve.
The stitchery pattern is very cute and maybe I can work on it for next Christmas.....
I feel very spoiled.

Add a page
Hi all
I have added a page for Tips and Hints, if you click on it just under the header picture you will get to this page, leave me a comment and tell me what you would like to know and I try answer and add it to the page.
It is getting hot here today, I think the first summer day we have had, 31 degrees.
Better turn the aircon on and get some more quilting done, two more and I stop for Christmas.
cheers

New project

Well do you think I really needed to start something new? My head said no but what the heck.
I bought this 12 block of the month when visiting Quaker Quilts in Friendswood in November, well I saw the quilt hanging on the wall and it was the nicest sampler I have seen.
It was also made from reproduction fabrics, so I liked it even better, I picked up a package with 12 blocks and fabric paid and had it sent so I didn't have to carry it with me.
What I didn't realise was that they had two sets of blocks, one twelve blocks all applique and the other pieced, well the quilt was made using some of both.
When I arrived home and received the parcel later in the mail I noticed they are all applique blocks, duh.......
I might just have to sent for the pieced blocks and make my quilt much bigger or make two quilts.
Have stitched the first three blocks while my DH was painting and the mess in my room is because of the painting, oh and all this just before Christmas.
Take care

Sunday....

Well it is raining again, not complaining but we have had a lot of rain lately and I am thinking about all those people that had their houses flooded and out farmers too.
We are currently renovating the kitchen and while the new kitchen doesn't go in before Christmas DH is at least trying to get the walls, doors and trims painted.
The slate floor has been repaired and we are so very pleased to have been able to find some to match ours and you know you wouldn't know looking at it.
I think I might have to keep my DH.
Have three more quilts to finish for customers before Christmas and then we will have a break. I am hoping to get a few new classes sorted, well samples that is.
Hope everyone is well, thinking of you all in the deep cold and the wet.
The first three images are still from my trip to the US, they are taken at Intercourse/Lancaster and the last two are customer quilts, sorry about the shadow over the one.
I must ask Santa for a new camera, mine is kaputt.....
Enjoy your Sunday

Maybe some applique and turning 50

We stayed in Lincoln/Nebraska and in the Hotel Foyer they had this lovely metal work on the wall, I thought it would make a beautiful applique?
Well I am going to be 50 next year February and I never thought getting older would worry me, but I think it does.
I better get on to stitching my Baltimore Quilt if I ever get to have one on my bed....... big grin
cheers

Me again...

Well we had my husband's Christmas Party on the weekend and stayed at the Gold Coast in a lovely room on the 19th floor, bottle of Chandon on arrival and a great view.
I was already thinking we are high up only to see the highest residential building right next to our window, well this was the place we had to go for our Party on the 78th Floor, yes 78th floor.
The lift took 44 seconds to get us up there and what a view........ I quickly forgot how high we are.
e had a wonderful dinner and a great night, followed by yummy breakfast and a wet drive home.
Florence Peto

If you visit Barb's blog you can see another version of the above quilt, my picture isn't the best and it is much stronger in colour.
I made this back in 2000 and changed the border to my own design, it is all needle turn applique and hand quilt.
I did win a first in the Brisbane Quilt show back in 2000, this is still one of my favourite quilts, when I first started making it we had trouble getting reproduction fabrics here in Brisbane so I ask my friends to give me some of their ugly fabrics as to me they would be the browns, the funny prints and so on. Well I think it worked and the quilt turned out to look old.
Well and we are so lucky now being able to purchase all these wonderful Repro's.
Enjoy
Christine
ps. my hand seems a bit better and I am still stitching as it is raining cat's and dogs here.

Hi again

Well hand and wrist still swollen and not been to the doctor yet, will have to see how it is in the morning, mind you I have two classes tomorrow so the doctor will have to wait.
I have finished my berries day before yesterday and now have to find a border for this little quilt or maybe I could just bind and use it on the table.
cheers
Christine
what to do when?
Well I woke up this morning and my left hand is swollen and my fingers are hurting....
Typing with one hand, must try and see if I can get in to see the doctor, not good when you are left handed and the hand doesn't want to play.
cheers
